Battle of the Bands Questions
Types of Intellectual Property
Creative Understanding
- If you were putting a portion of song lyrics such as "Baby you light up my world like nobody else" on a social media network such as Twitter and didn't put "What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction" after it.
- The name North Face is a trademark company and if you took the name idea and just changed the direction such as "South Bottom" that would be like stealing their name.
- If you took a quote by some famous author or designer and forgot to quote who said it.
- Having a store name but without it being registered with the state then another company comes along and trademarks the name but opens a different store.
Creative Understanding
- My understanding of creative rights is that anything that the owner has written or published belongs to them and it can only be approved by them.
- Materials that are protected by copyright law is anything that the owner has identified as theirs by copyrighting it such as the original love song performed by Jennifer Mellinger because she didn't want 'a pop singer to steal it.'
- Copyright law prohibits activities of others taking the owners work and copying, changing, and distributing it without their permission.
- My rules of copying music, games, etc. is that I don't take or use it unless you have permission. Don't illegally download music, simply purchase it on iTunes. Don't copy a game just so you don't have to pay for it. Accept the copyright law and do what is legal.
- I have never put this question into a lot of thought but it's actually quite important. I looked into it from all different perspectives. If I wrote a detailed 5 page paper, I wouldn't want anyone to plagiarize it and take credit for it because a 5 page paper can take a long time and effort. Same as if I was a top selling recording artist, which I am not, but if I was and I wrote a hit single then somehow it got stolen and they sold it to some big record label, I would be livid because writing songs takes a lot of dedication and hard work. Over all if someone took credit for something that I wrote or created, I would be upset because it's your work, not theirs.

My average rubric score = 4.5
What I am satisfied about in my performance in the group: I am satisfied with the fact that I was able to get what needed to be done, done and that I worked so well with my group and that there was no one who slacked. We all worked really well together.
What I can do to improve my performance in future group work: I could improve my performance by focusing a bit more because some times I would get sidetracked.
